Heatmap of Tweets from the earthquake in L’Aquila

I’ve created a heatmap visualization of 1500 Tweets with the keyword “earthquake” around the time of the terrible earthquake that happened in L’Aquila, Italy. Again I’ve used the ModestMaps library for the mapping. Hat tip to Chris from UUorld for his support on the coding side of life.

Update: The data is now enlarged with a search query for the word “terremoto” to approximately 3000 Tweets.

Great work ! It could be interesting to add the Italian word for “earthquake” that is”terremoto” and see the results.

Thanks for the suggestion – seems obvious that the people mostly involved would rather tweet in italien. The map will soon be updated.
