Inspiration Impuls: Portraits of the Sun

The GE Show is back with more science-based beauty. This time exploring the power of the sun and how people are turning the world’s oldest energy source, into its newest one.  It’s hard to believe, but more energy is contained in the sunlight that falls on the earth in one hour than the total energy consumed by the world’s population in a year!

GE and The Barbarian Group continue their string of amazing videos with a new clip entitled “The Power of the Sun“. By filling a weather balloon with 71% hydrogen and 21.7% helium, igniting it and capturing the chemical reaction with 24 simultaneous cameras, a 360-degree miniature portrait of our sun was created. The three dimensional images give us a stunning glimpse into the structure (if there exists such a thing) of an explosion.
