Obama Wikipedia page edits

This video features a visualization of people who’ve contributed to the Barack Obama page on Wikipedia. Users who have contributed a lot drift toward the center. It’s created by Jamie Dubs and built with Ruby.

The visualization is made using code_swarm: vis.cs.ucdavis.edu/~ogawa/codeswarm
and the Wikipedia page history parser: github.com/jamiew/wikiswarm/

Well, it’s a start, but I think it would be nice to see how much these people contribute, whether there are new facts being introduced or just typos corrected. And the most interesting would be if we could see, which contributors «fight» among themselves, editing out the things introduced by their opponent. These things exist, of course, but not with such a dynamic and fun to watch «music»-video :)

I totally understand your point, Peter. The visualization might not be as compelling as it could (Wikipedia edits could reveal more in-depth information about the edits themselves). I expect the focus of this visulization beeing the display of the dynamic nature of people generated content.
