Data visualization keeps getting more and more attention in the blogosphere. The collection features some of the best known examples from Jonathan Harris (WeFeelFine), Chris Harrison (Bible Visualization) and Akami (WebMonitor). The descriptions give a very brief introduction in the to the visualizations and the thoughts behind them – it’s highly recommended to follow the links though to get more insights in the projects.

Meryl Evans has collected a very extensive list of resources covering datavisualization in a wide range of aspects. The links are grouped by examples, blogs and resources and there are most of the important ones listed.

The post is already a few month old but maybe some of you haven’t come across it, so we wanted to mention it anyway. Kudos to Meryl for this great collection!

Interactive Graphics for Data Analysis

This site is the web resource for the book “Interactive Graphics for Data Analysis – Principles and Examples”.

There are links to the most important software tools, all datasets used in the book for easy download, and a set of slides which may be used together with the book for a lecture.

The R-code used in the book can be found here as well.

The news section will cover news on the book, potential courses and all kind of information regarding interactive statistical graphics and data visualization in general.

InfoDesign Patterns

Although not quite cutting edge, because InfoDesign Patterns is live since June 2008, it’s woth a look none the less. Christian Behrens is constantly enlarging and updating the pattern library and therefore coming back to it is definitely a smart move.

This website is part of the Master’s thesis The Form of Facts and Figures, developed by Christian Behrens in the Interface Design program at Potsdam University of Applied Sciences. Its goal is the development of a design pattern taxonomy for the field of data visualization and information design. The project core consists of a collection of currently 48 design patterns that describe the functional aspects of graphic components for the display, behavior and user interaction of complex infographics.

Don’t miss to checkout the affiliated website patternbrowser.org. Patternbrowser introduces real-life examples of interface design pattern – similar to Konigi.com and Patterntap.com. If you’re interested in interface design, these are superb resources of inspiration.
